Doas and Supplications

Sep 19 2024

Foreword

Doa is an essential part of a Muslim’s life. It ties one’s belief towards Allah as the Lord who determines the fate for everyone and anything. Nothing happens without His will. Through our supplications, we pray that Allah determines the best from both this world and the next for us.

Through verses of the Qur’an and the sunnah of the Prophet, we are guided by the doas of the prophets and the pious. They are exemplary in their submission to Allah, and we ought to follow them in their footsteps to our best ability. Through that, bountiful blessings will fall upon us inshaAllah.
In times of desperation, it is also essential to understand that Allah is as-Samee’ al-’Aleem (السَّمِيع العَلِيم), the Most-Hearing and Most-Knowing. Our doa are not limited to the Arabic Language, nor the words of the Prophets. Allah hears our hearts, no matter how silent it is. He knows our pleas, no matter how jumbled up our words are. In our prayer, be sincere and cry our hearts out. Be limitless in asking Allah for his mercy upon us.
ٱدۡعُونِيٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ
“Call upon Me, I will respond to you”
